Kayak/Canoe
A beautiful way to see Swan Island, bring your own Canoe or Kayak. If you do not have a Canoe or Kayak, you can rent one from Watson Canoe and Kayak Rental. Call 207-380-6948 for reservations.
Paddle your canoe or kayak to the main island landing across from the dock parking lot (5-minute paddle) or about a 30-minute paddle to the campground on the east side. If you prefer to paddle across the river to the main island landing, it will be about a 1.5-mile hike to the campground.
River Tours

Gary's Quik Stop
In a rush to get to Swan Island but need some food or drink? Stop at Gary's Quik Stop, a fully stocked convenience store with a full menu of pre-maid and made to order pizza, sandwiches, hamburgers, appetizers and more. Stock up on cold drinks, snacks, chips and anything else you'll need to picnic at Swan Island's campground. Take a look at the menu at Gary's Quik Stop and call ahead to order for pickup.
Exit 43 Quik Stop
Located conveniently at Exit 43 just off Interstate 295 heading towards Richmond, Exit 43 Quik Stop offers a full Krispy Krunchy Chicken kitchen where the chicken is Freshly Made, Perfectly Cajun. The charm of Richmond overflows as we even have a family-owned orchard and stand. During apple season, Bond's is a pick-your-own orchard and they offer 18 or so varieties of apples to choose from. Bond's Apple Orchard also has the best apple cider this side of the Kennebec. While camping on Swan Island is a choice for many, we understand that it may not fit in with your plans. Richmond does not have a hotel in-town, however, there are many local Air BnB options available. We suggest searching for available properties on the Air BnB website directly.
