SwanIslandMaine.org is a non-profit organization based in Richmond, Maine, dedicated to preserving the history and promoting the use of Swan Island and its natural beauty. Our mission is to provide focus on historic preservation, access, education and opportunities on Swan Island.
We are a vital preservation organization working to preserve the cultural and natural beauty of Swan Island. Our work ensures historic preservation of Swan Island landmarks and creates a sustainable future for the island. Our goal is to provide opportunities for visitors to connect with nature and see the amazing history of Swan Island through our preservation efforts.
Our team is made up of people, just like you, who have grown to love Swan Island and recognize its cultural and historical importance. Our organization is comprised of a prior resident of Swan Island, a historian, a photographer and digital media specialist, stewards of culture and history and many additional volunteers willing to contribute to the preservation of Swan Island. We are always looking for volunteers to join us with our mission, so, please contact us today.
We work with many partners to help preserve the historic significance of the island and promote community use and enjoyment. Our partners include Maine Preservation, the National Register of Historic Places, Richmond Historical and Cultural Society, Friends of Merrymeeting Bay, Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife and more.
